*2011 in Review*

~I have been filling out this little "year in review survey" for at least half a decade now...on LJ, blogs, MySpace, Facebook, etc. I decided to go ahead and do it again this year. :-) ENJOY!

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
There are a crazy number of things I could put here, but either for personal reasons (or simply because I don't want to), I will only list one thing. I went to my first All-Star Race at Charlotte...and got to see CARL EDWARDS win it! :)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't usually make resolutions. I usually just reflect on negatives in the previous year and work on turning them into positives...but, I don't put any expectations on myself.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. :) Alicia and Christy, especially...among other friends. :) I'm surrounded by beautiful babies!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
I lost quite a few friends this year...lifelong church friends; a FB friend I never got the chance to meet, the father of one of my closest friends, and a few more people. :(

5. What countries did you visit?
USA. (Sad that, as of 2005, I have still only been to USA and Mexico)

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A job! More specifically, a job I love! And a place of my own again!

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 19...just because. (I know why and that's all that matters) Also, April 29...it was a beautiful day that I was enamored with for so long! :)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I gained more confidence in myself in so many situations and put myself out there, with some positive results! AND, I finally realized, accepted, and embraced my beauty. :)

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not finding a job. Losing something I cherished. Not being the daughter I want to be. Not getting my diabetes under better control. :(

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I battled stomach illnesses, still battle back problems, and have fought with my diabetes all year...so, unfortunately, yes.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
This is going to sound silly to you...but gasoline. Despite not having a job, I was able to travel to Pigeon Forge at the beginning of the year, Asheville/Charlotte around my birthday, and the Richmond area a couple of times later in the year...and each trip was special to me for different reasons.  SO...gas for my car. :) (A close second was probably the Coach wallet I purchased at the beginning of the year at a Coach store in Pigeon Forge. hehe)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I am thinking I always say this, but my friends and close family for dealing with me on a daily basis. I know I can be a handful, but I also know I am loved.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A few family members...and someone I thought was my best friend. Also, someone I admired who showed her true colors in a very ugly way.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Well, I really didn't have much...but I suppose what I did have went to trips!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The spring Bristol race...the All-Star race weekend...my trips...the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton (it's the truth!)...and meeting someone for the first time.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
"Don't You Wanna Stay" by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson. Or "Give Me Everything" by Ne-Yo, featuring Pitbull. Oh, and I can't leave out "Grenade" by Bruno Mars! lol

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder?
Eh...sadder right now, but the year itself contained more happiness

ii. thinner or fatter? thinner

iii. richer or poorer? poorer...definitely poorer. :-*(

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Enjoyed every wonderful moment and not taken advantage of a second of it. Prayed more.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worry less. Not get so frustrated over the job search. Cry less.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
I spent Christmas Eve at my church, acting in a play I LOVED! Then, I went to my Aunt's to celebrate with family. Christmas Day was spent having a wonderful breakfast with my Marmie, opening gifts with her, watching "A Christmas Story", going to the "Clarkston Christmas Gathering" and having a wonderful supper with my Mom and my 2nd family, and finally going to see Camp Bethel In Lights with Bobbie later that night (and riding around, crying!) Despite the "end" to the day...it was a wonderful Christmas. :)

21. What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you in 2011?
Uhm...probably the "shorts incident" at the All-Star race. :)

22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
I fall in love every day. It all depends on your definition of the term.

23. How many one-night stands?
A grand total of zero. :-)

24. What was your favorite TV program?
I have some favorites that I have had for years, but my new discoveries this year were: The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Criminal Minds, Two Broke Girls, American Pickers, and I am sure I am leaving some out!

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I honestly don't HATE anyone...but there are a number of people who have either hurt/betrayed me or those close to me who no longer have a place in my life.

26. What was the best book you read?
The Help by Kathryn Stockett

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Zac Brown Band!!

28. What did you want and get?
A feeling unlike any other I had felt before and that is all the elaboration I will give.

29. What did you want and not get?
A JOB! lol

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hmm...I REALLY loved "Bridesmaids", but I also genuinely loved "Crazy Stupid Love". AND the new Muppets movie, of course!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 32 on my birthday. On the actual birthday, I was surprised with a Cook-Out at my cousins' house with my Mom, Aunt, and my cousins (Shelley, Amy, and Patrick). This also included an amazing Carl Edwards cake! There is a pic of me clapping like a little girl when it was brought out! lol (I also remember we all also watched my fave episode of "The Office". Random, I know!) The weekend before, I was treated to supper at Machiavelli's and a movie trip to see "Bridesmaids" with Freak, Jess, Darian, Gav, Val, and Travis. SO much fun! :)

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A job I loved...a place of my own...and for something I took advantage of to not have slipped through my fingers.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Used. LOL I bought very few clothes! It's sad, but true! Most of the new clothes I have were bought by someone else (who I think pitied me! lol)

34. What kept you sane?
My Momma, my faith, my best friend, someone special, my Lucy cat, Greyson cat, and like I always joke...my crazy pills. ;-) lol

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Carl Edwards and Shemar Moore. Sorry...I can't pick just one. lol And, of course, the beautifully classy Ms. Kate Middleton, as she was previously known!

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I honestly can't think of one in particular and that bothers me!

37. Who did you miss?
My Daddy, every day. <3

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I was SO lucky to actually get to meet so many internet friends this year! I count Whit R. and Jennifer C.G. as two of the best, but count Paul H. as the best. :-)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
Life goes on. I think I have to learn that every year.  AND, I learned that you have to dig deep and trust little until you find who your real friends are.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

(this actually fits more than one situation...so no assumptions, please! lol)

You say you gotta go and find yourself
You say that you're becoming someone else
Don't recognize the face in the mirror looking back at you

You say you're leaving as you look away
I know there's really nothing left to say
Just know I'm here whenever you need me I'll wait for you

AND...for now, I will say this: I am SO glad that 2011 is over, despite having some of the most amazing days ever during the year. Bring on 2012 and all the joy it is bound to bring! :)
